TWO landscape and TWO nature photo - a total of FOUR pictures due TUESDAY, OCT.

In the Camera:
You will be taking at least 100
photographs of the landscape and of nature.
Landscape
A landscape photograph has a defined
or implied horizon line and provides
a greater sense of depth and place. A
‘cityscape’ is also a landscape.
Nature
A nature photograph represents a
smaller, more detailed segment of the natural world. A horizon line is not defined.
For both parts of this assignment,
consider the following when shooting:
- Low ISO setting for maximum
detail
- Foreground, middle ground, &
background (for landscape)
- Composition
- Depth of field (wide aperture
for closeups, small for great distances)
- Placement of horizon line (for
landscape)
- Wide angle or telephoto lens
- Time of day/quality of light
- Horizontal or vertical format
- The use of a tripod for longer
exposures
Writing assignment (Due on blog TUESDAY, OCT. 6th):
Go to the website of outdoor
photographer Art Wolfe, and choose ONE LANDSCAPE and ONE NATURE photograph
to write about. What makes each of them a successful image? How did the
photographer use compositional elements (lines, shapes, color, patterns, rule
of thirds, etc)? Did he use shutter speed or aperture (depth of field) in a
creative way? Write at least one full paragraph for each photo and save the
images you selected and post them to your blog (having Art Wolfe’s watermark on
the photo is okay).
On the Computer:
Choose TWO landscape and TWO nature
photographs to edit. Edit the photographs in Lightroom.
- All
photos must be edited in color
and you should work to achieve strong yet accurate colors!
- Utilize
the tools we have learned, including the adjustment brush, radial filter,
and graduated filter, as needed.
Save versions of your edits and
original images.
On your Blog:
Post your edited and original
versions of each photo. Be sure to post
camera info (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). These are due before class on
Tuesday, Oct. 13th.
